It is so easy to get "comfortable" in the way we are doing things right now. We get stuck in thinking that things need to be a certain way to "arrive" at "just right" what ever that looks like in your imagination. Hey, you get to be attached to what ever ideas you want. But if you life isn't working for you the way you want it to, it may be time to shift your thinking or take different action than you've been doing.
I found this video and it was amazing to me to see a whole new way of approaching art that I had never seen before. You don't have to have a brush and you don't have to take months to make a painting. Have a look:
It probably took that artist some time to fine tune his art the way he wanted. He had to learn what the paint would do, what would be in his control, and what he had to let go of and trust that it would be perfect.
It might take you some time to get into some new habits. You might need to experiment with new tools. Sometimes they will work for you, and sometimes they won't. The idea here is to be willing to try something new when the old way of thinking or acting is not giving you the results you want.
Shift your perceptions. Try on new ways of thinking. For ideas check out some of the other posts on this blog (try looking for key words in the "Categories" section--action plan, baby steps, or other works that you connect with). Let me know what works or where you get stuck.
Stick with it amazing people. You can do this! (...tweak your life I mean so yo can live the life you love!)
Thought this was a great video.
What was amazing to me was that the guy in last place was probably so happy to even be in the race! He had certainly worked hard to get there, didn't he? And he was the first one to ever win a gold for this sport for his country. So maybe it wasn't even in his thinking that he was in the running at all. Maybe he just loved the sport and working hard was enough. But life had a different plan!
In a way this video reminds me of the story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare was so confident that he was going to win the race, that he took a nap and slept right through it. The tortoise kept putting one foot in front of the other, in front of the other, in front of the other... and won!
So maybe we don't have to go into everything with the idea that we have to win first place. Maybe we can just do the work, enjoy the journey, finish what we start, and watch for the miraculous openings along the way that are doorways to propel us forward. What surprise gifts are opening up in your life? If you look for them, you'll see them. And then, seize the moment; go for it. Enjoy the journey, and stay awake too. Because you never know when the moment will open up for you, but know this: Life will open up for you. It might not look this dramatic, but for your heart and soul, it may be even more profound than a gold medal. Be brave enough to shine no matter where you are in life.
Live the extraordinary life you deserve.
