Thought this was a great video. What was amazing to me was that the guy in last place was probably so happy to even be in the race! He had certainly worked hard to get there, didn't he? And he was the first one to ever win a gold for this sport for his country. So maybe it wasn't even in his thinking that he was in the running at all. Maybe he just loved the sport and working hard was enough. But life had a different plan!
In a way this video reminds me of the story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare was so confident that he was going to win the race, that he took a nap and slept right through it. The tortoise kept putting one foot in front of the other, in front of the other, in front of the other... and won! So maybe we don't have to go into everything with the idea that we have to win first place. Maybe we can just do the work, enjoy the journey, finish what we start, and watch for the miraculous openings along the way that are doorways to propel us forward. What surprise gifts are opening up in your life? If you look for them, you'll see them. And then, seize the moment; go for it. Enjoy the journey, and stay awake too. Because you never know when the moment will open up for you, but know this: Life will open up for you. It might not look this dramatic, but for your heart and soul, it may be even more profound than a gold medal. Be brave enough to shine no matter where you are in life.
